Training and Development

States Works is committed to providing staff with training and development opportunities for the benefit of career enhancement and as part of our succession plan.  Examples of the training opportunities we have supported staff with recently are:

•    Island Operative Apprenticeship Scheme (NVQ Level 3)

This new course was introduced in 2021 for the first time having been developed by the Guernsey Institute alongside industry.  This fantastic opportunity is available to staff who are already employed within the business and will help build on the operational knowledge they have already gained through their time at States Works.  For more information on this course, please visit www.guernseycollege.ac.gg where you can download the full course brochure and learn more about the syllabus.

•    City & Guilds Level 3 in Education and Training

A small group of our Land Management staff underwent the above training which means they are now able to provide basic level training in relation to certain horticultural matters to other members of staff across the business.

•    Category C Driver Development Programme

We are delighted to be able to offer support to staff within the business who wish to gain their HGV (Category C) driving licence.  We provide financial support with both lessons as the test (theory and practical).  This has been a really successful scheme, with several members of staff successfully achieving their Category C licence as a result of the Driver Development Programme.
