Community and Environmental Project Scheme

Community & Environmental Project Scheme (CEPS)

Our work within the community is important to us. We work with Employment and Social Security to run th eCOmmunity and Environmental Project Scheme (CEPS) and a mandatory work team (Work2Benefit) which provides temporary work and training opportunities for people who are seeking to re-join the workforce after periods of unemployment or long-term illness.

The teams carry out a variety of projects largely within the third sector, which are of benefit to the community and the environments while simultaneously preparing the team members for permanent employment by facilitating training and upskilling and providing support and guidance in developing good work place behaviours and habits. Participants are also actively encouraged to job seek while on the schemes and have access to a computer suite specifically designated for use by CEPS and Work2Benefit participants.

Projects undertaken have included but are not limited to:

  • Grounds maintenance
  • Hard landscaping
  • Property maintenance
  • House moves and basic redecoration
  • Furniture Welfare Scheme - certain items of furniture are accepted from private donors and redistributed to those in need
  • Rubbish removal

This service is offered free of charge to local groups and charities who need help.

If you need help with a project or to find out more, contact Martyn Barbe, CEPS Manager on 01481 246263.
