Our Engineering Services Section is separated into three teams, mechanical, electrical, and drainage. We employ a number of skilled operatives in this section to deliver a range of maintenance and repair services on some of the Island's critical infrastructure.
Mechanical and electrical
Based at La Hure Mare is a modern and fully equipped workshop where our teams undertake fabrication, machining, welding and drilling. The type of services provided by these teams are:
- Traffic signals maintenance
- Electrical and data installations
- External lighting systems
- Pumps and pipework delivery systems
- General maintenance
- Mechanical and fabrication works (including welding)
Predominantly these services are provided for States of Guernsey Clients, however we also have a small number of private Clients who we are pleased to work with, and this helps to ensure a balanced programme of work is maintained for the team across the year. We are always happy to discuss how we can help you so please contact us if you think we can help you.
Drainage
Our staff operate specialist jet vac and gully sucker vehicles to clean the sewage and surface water networks. This work is essential in making sure important infrastructure remains functional and does what it needs to do to keep the Island running as necessary. A schedule of work is developed at the beginning of the year to make sure that drains, streams and douits that we often see on near public highways are cleared to ensure the adequate flow of water and reduce the possibility of flooding.
This team also work closely with our Client, Guernsey Water to undertake scheduled maintenance on the various grit tanks that collate all the debris and grit from our Islands roads. Our Operatives work extremely hard to clear these tanks (by hand) to make sure they still operate effectively and do not lead to any unnecessary overflowing or surplus surface water across the Island.
